i will do another US clinic tour in september and will also hit some canadian cities so check the dates and come to the shows if you are around.

i just returned from London where i recorded an album with a new Band that´s called “Blue Touch Paper” from Colin Towns

and i also wanna thank again everyone who was involved in the wonderful Asia tour that i just did it was amazing. other than that…

in this years readers poll of the DRUM! magazine in the US i won the drummie (the drum grammy) twice !
i really wanna thank everyone who voted for me – it´s really an honour.

My DVD ” The Language of Drumming” won 1rst place in the category “media” in the category “drumset players” i was voted “best drum clinician” and i made the 2nd place in the “rising star” category

…i played the modern drummer festival and it was killer the playing of the other performers was jawdropping, the audience was nice and manhattan in a great place to party. it was very exciting and a big honour. i will do the mix of the sound myself with sven peks and look forward to do that at the end of the month.

the sonor drum days
what a festival ! it was great to hang with dave languth, gavin harrison and stephan emig and good times always when i´m with my friends at sonor drums congrats to 135 years of making the best drums possible.

the US clinic tour
it was lots of fun..but not much sleep it was a tight schedule and there were some weird things going on with volcanoes and flights beeing moved and cancelled…but hey.. when you you have a job where you are able to see a new place everyday and have the chance to play the drums for great people …it´s all soo worth it. i wanna thank again all the companies for making things like that possible: sonor, pro mark, remo, hudson music, and especially meinl who did a great job in putting the tour together and taking good care of me during the tour. also the stores who really do a great job , giving their customers events like that

coming up :
i`ll be busy in the studio next week recording the new Strom und Wasser album. also i´ll travel to london to record the second half of a band project album with colin towns. also gigs with ron spielman trio and 3ergezimmer (see dates) the meinl drumfestival ( tickets for my masterclass are already sold out but you should check out the festival anyway) aaaaand there will be a clinic tour through asia!!

hey everyone / a lot is going on

besides drilling holes in the wall and moving furniture ( i just moved into a new appartement ), i´m busy rehearsing with elbtonal percussion , a fine percussion quartet from hamburg. we will play a big concert in the fabrik in hamburg on the 2nd of april. the programm include some of the most interresting and demanding drumcompositions i`ve ever come across such as: songs from vinnie colaiuta, frank zappa´s “The Black Page” as well as indian compositions.

there have been rumours on the internet and YES! there is now a “Benny Greb Sandhat” a signature hihat that features the same soundconcept as the popular sandride -combining vintage charme with modern clarity and presence. it will be introduced at this months Frankfurt Musikmesse. and then you can go for it and check it out.
and Yes! ..there will be a clip where i present it.
(i´m excited too :-)

aaand more gear news the sandride was nominated for the MIPA award in the category “best cymbal” . it´s like the grammy / oscar for musicgear and it´s voted by the international music press association….next month we will know more …but for me its the best ridecymbal on the world anyway:-)

at the moment it lokes like there will be alot of touring around the world this year ..i´ll keep you updated.

i´ve been invited to the most important and prestigious drumfestival of the world i will perform at the MODERN DRUMMER FESTIVAL 2010. i´m totally thrilled and feel

sorry guys for the late january update – but here it comes:

i´ve been to turkey and austria with the wonderful jazz pianist sabri tulug tirpan. and next month we will play at ankara jazz festival.

apart from that there have been some shows with Stoppok
…and btw. for the ppl from outside germany who wanna hear me play in a pop/rock context check out the myspace page. i put up a short live clip of a Stoppok concert there.

also i´m happy to announce that 3ergezimmer will perform monthly in hamburg from now on. at the fine club “metropolis” (across the “fabrik”) so when you´re in town stop by. the next show will be 10th of febuary.

and still for lessons check the news below for information on the “creative drum camp”

the USA tour went great and i wanna thank again everyone involved and everyone that went to the clinics.
i had a fantastic time and was really happy with how many people showed up.
thank you !!!

and this will be a busy last month of the year. i just travelled to austria, switzerland for 4 days and will fly to istanbul tomorrow to play some shows with the wonderful jazz quartet of sabri tulug tirpan. after that i´ll fly to luxemburg to a drumfestival before i will celebrate christmas with my family in bavaria.

happy christmas to you all and thank you for your support – this has been an exciting year for me and i´m looking forward to 2010.

another thing talking about 2010 ..i often get asked about private lessons and i always have to say no because i hardly find time to teach nowadays. but there will be a drumcamp that will take place in summer next year that is really great and will give those of you who want to spend some more time with me than in clinics the chance to do so. here is the link (there is only a german website sorry , for questions office@percussion-creativ.de) maybe i´ll see you there.

Jerobeam have split

It is, as it is:
Jerobeam, as you know them, are history. In all those years that we’ve been on our way, making records, we did not succeed in building a structure, capable of carrying it self. We have not succeeded in transforming a vision that has a message strong enough to carry itself. There are multiple reasons, but they are to be left open.

We have experienced a lot, been playin on the streets, festivals and did some tours with bands that were friends.
We have had good times, played great music and got to know great people,
But we also had to fight from the beginning. And in the end this battle has led to nothing. And so it only makes sense to to end the fighting.

Thank you for the support and thank you for the good experiences that we could share with you.
Over and out.
But we will surely meet again. In one way or another.
